I’ve made it to the kingdom of Bhutan.  Was a bit of a journey.  I caught a bus to Thailand and managed to walk straight through the Laos customs with no-one stamping my passport. Lots of people looked at me and smiled but no-one stopped me. The bus driver had to chase me down to go back and get my stamp….oops 😊

The bus from Vientiane to Udon Thani was pretty uneventful (apart from my border crossing fail). I flew from Udon Thani to Bangkok because it was 1/3 of the price of flying from Vientiane! Then I decided to save even more money by sleeping at the Bangkok airport instead of an airport motel. Thank goodness for my owl eye-mask, noise cancelling headphones and scarf.

Checking in for my Bhutan flight was hilarious. Every family had a flat screen TV and an ironing board to bring back with them.  They also had lots of hello kitty bags, equivalent to the red, blue and white striped bags in Aus.

   
It was a beautiful flight in over the mountains, they even had the red carpet rolled out when we landed. I thought it was to make the visitors feel special but it turns out someone from the royal family was flying in first class.  

  
Customs was very slow, probably because I managed to fly on a Bhutan public holiday. A very auspicious day for Buddha the 20th of July. A few snaps from downtown Paro.
