I am back in tourist mode! Arequipa was lovely, easy to walk around with nice people. I went to see Juanita, a frozen inca princess they found on top of the Ampatu volcano. Apparently, she was sacrificed to the gods by walking her to the top, getting her drunk on chicha and high on cocoa leaves and then giving her a skull fracture – brutal. I can’t show you a photo because it wasn’t allowed to take them but google it! I also went to the cathedral and a convent in Arequipa, so you can see those photos.

When I was on the inca trail I learnt the 3 rules for the incas – don’t lie, don’t steal and don’t be lazy. I think they are excellent rules to live by. So, in the interest of not being lazy, I went on another hike. This time through the Colca canyon. It was pretty good, but not my favourite hike. My guide on the inca trail was much better 😊
